Okay, read the thread, Turner stuck a bell, I have one on my M1 Garand. I'm thinking 54" since I'm just over 6'. Am I on track?

I'm 6'4" with long monkey arms, and the I find the 54" one to be sufficient for me.
Longer is always better than shorter though. You can always adjust smaller, but you can't make it grow if you buy one too short.

GI web sling. Way faster, easier to adjust, and locks down tighter. National records have been set with both the 1903 and the web sling. I'd go with the cheaper easier choice myself.

Go with the web sling clutch, it cant do you wrong. Just make the good old "tight loop" sling and you should be able to hit target consistantly as long as your other parameters are locked.

I remembered I had a Turner sling on my Garand, the sling is 54" and seems to work. Too bad I don't fit my old shooting coat anymore. Time for a diet.

lots of choices so I see the reason for you asking. I use a biothane type turner.
here are JUST my opinions good and bad on slings.
Turner leather usually relace them with heavy use every 3 or 4 years as the holes that I use most often begin to stretch out. but are nice slings and are pliable enough and on the other hand stiff enough to do what you want.
turner biothane usually I relace them every 2 to 3 years because the holes that are used the most split. very stiff and gives me good support and does not slip on my arm like the leather slings. some folks do not like them because they take a little longer to get used to using. Current sling I use.
les tams and others. very high quality sling that will out live everything else that I have seen used. have never used the customs but have really given it much thought. most likely only reason I chose to use others is because when I needed a new sling the others where easy to find without a wait.
usgi cotton slings? the big plus for them are ease of use nad do not stretch. but have seen them break and have had it happen to me. always carried a extra one in my range bag as I had 2 of them break inside of 3 years of use.
Still like them but quit using them back in like 05 as i found at that time because of their flexibility it was causing me cant my rifle in sitting to easily. I know it was my problem but by changing I did not have the problem any longer.
If you use any of them you should be fine and which ever one you decide on it should service you well untill you settle on which you prefer.

I used my first Tam sling several times a month for 6 years. When I went distinguished, I treated myself to a leather coat and a new Tam sling. When It came in, I laid the new one over the old one and discovered that it had not stretched one bit. I cannot say enough good things about Les' workmanship.
