I can get a PS90 in Black with black reticle NIB for $1699.

Seems about right price wise from what I can gather.

I've been interested for a while, but just not sure if I really want to "pull the trigger" on the purchase as it were.

Anyone here have any shooting experience with these? Thoughts on the PS90?

Specifically the magazine. Can you change it with any speed at all?

Thanks!

Aloha :)

Yes, the mag is pretty easy to change. Not quite as fast as say - a handgun mag. But once ya get the hang of it, it can be done very quickly. And remember - ya got 50 rounds in the mag. Less need to change the mags :)

For one with the black reticle, that isn't a bad price. They charge more for it than the standard sight version. I paid $1499 for my black PS90 with the standard sight version, but I swopped out the white ring stock sight for an Eotech.

Hate to plug my own sight - but if ya have any PS90 questions, come check out the PS90 forum :)

Well, my fellow admin picked the colors. We are in the slow process of trying to move from php software to VBulletin. But, there are some server steps that have to be done first. Once we get everything going, we plan to run the new software in tandem for a little while and then hopefully make the change over. When we got with the new software, it will probably be a different color.

But so far, you are the first to comment about the colors being a problem to read.

tex, i've been shooting mine since they came out. they're a hoot. mag changes are fast enough. easier to get used to the mag than the trigger. trigger takes some work. but it's hella fun.

this is just my personal opinion, but make sure you put your hands on the green and black ones before making your decision. i greatly prefer the green to the black. imho, if FNH had released them both at the same time, green would be the more popular color. i think black is only popular because it was hard to get and more expensive. it's just no the right "black" for evil black rifles. it's more plasticy black than real anodized aluminum black, or parkerized etc.

also, make sure you take several good long looks through the original sight before getting a different one. i think the original sight is fantastic. again, that's not a popular opinion, but i think most people who don't like it just didn't take time to get used to it.

I wouldn't buy it for 2 reasons :

1. Ammo is EXTREMELY hard to find and is really EXPENSIVE!

2. Mags are way too much money. Like $60 each!:what:

I like to have a minimum of 10 mags per rifle so the PS90 is not an option with prices like that. The ammo problem by itself is the main reason I would never buy it. But I'm pretty sure you are richer than I am so if you can really afford all that and really want it then go for it.

Ammo is EXTREMELY hard to find and is really EXPENSIVE!

Well actually of all the reasons not to buy it that isn't one.

Look at 5.56 prices then compare.

From ammoman:

500 rounds SS195 5.7 ammo - $225
500 rounds SS109 5.56 - $210 ( and sold out)

So, small price difference, but you can buy 5.7 right now and you can't buy 5.56.

Also reloading the 5.7 is cheaper since component prices are about the same but you use less powder.

Thanks for the other tips, I appreciate the info.

Shipwreck, I registered at your site this afternoon, thanks!

I have shot 2 of them, I prefer the p-90 lol. BUt reloading mags is a pain sometimes. As for draw back on the ps90 is the standard sight. It disappears on certain colors or light levels. Get the rail version or ask for the alternate sight. Easy to shoot and rapid hits no recoil. Black or Green depends upon you. get the factory brass catcher if your going to reload.
Ammo well its available again but is $$$$$.

Evil monkey - actually - ammo is easy to get. I CAN get it locally - but typically, I order from the net. U can get it for $17.95 if U look around hard enough, or $18.95 just about anywhere online. I have ordered quite a bit from CMMG. They always ship out ASAP.

And BPSIG, after U shoot them and reload them a few times, it gets very easy. Now, I can load the mags on my drive to the range if I want.

my understanding is that it's illegal (in TN at least) to have a loaded rifle mag or clip in the vehicle if you also have the gun. i.e. separating them isn't enough to make the gun meet the definition of "unloaded"

Not here in TX. EVery state is different.

Also, I have a CHL - so for handguns, it doesn't matter anyway.

Yeah Texas pretty much has no long gun laws at all.

You can carry one walking down the sidewalk, and in fact I have done that before.

I had one on reserve but decided to drop it after examining my friend's and shooting it. I think the fact that it was so much different as compared to standard gun offerings and the functioning of the mag is what got me interested in it at first. The build quality and overall utility of the gun (as I think it falls into) looking at tmy friend's sample just changed my mind. (Didn't like the quality of the casting of the paarts and not a big fan of semi-auto subguns.)

Hopefully, the FS2000 will be better.

Mine is my favorite rifle.
Mag changes are easily (if nothing else its cool as a novelty).
As already said ammo now isn't that out of line compared with the increased price of other rifle calibers.
& it's available locally here whereas decent priced 5.56 is not (though still cheaper online).

Only regret/complaint is on the stock sight- I wish mine had the USSS sight that you are looking @...other than that great firearm.

1) Easier to find lately than 5.56mm. Prices have come down to reality after last years spike to $1+/rd.
2) They can easily be found for $55/each.
True it's expensive but it also isn't out of line with the competition.
Top of the line HK AR15 mags are $50/each.
MP5 mags are $65/each.
9mm Colt AR15 mags are $50+

& what do you need/want 10 mags for? You are relegated to ak's & such for cheap mags in mass quantity. Would it not be better to buy quality instead of quantity?

& what do you need/want 10 mags for?

I treat weapons that I buy as if I'm going to war with them. I just must have a minimum of 10 mags. If 10 mags totals a price that I can get another firearms for, then forget it. Also, rounds for a rifle should be no more than 25 cents a round before I buy the rifle. That's just the way I feel.

So for me, the PS90 is not an option right now.

Hell, I would love to get a HK93 or a clone but because of mags being $40+, I refuse to buy it.

Generally, if the mags are over $20, forget it. Again, that's just the way I feel.:)

I have a FN 5.7 and love it, 2500 rounds in the safe. The cost of the rounds for the PS90 and 5.7 are easier to come by and the price is no longer out of reach. Been researching the FN FS2000 for months but no way would I consider until I could actually hold one – well guess what followed me home from the gun shop, Black FS2000.

The nice thing about the FS2000 is that I can find .223 anyplace, anytime. With an EOTech mounted on top it is now my go to gun day or night. Fast and accurate.

Be safe, BSR

I've picked up the FS2000 and held it at many gunshows. I've always found it a lot bulkier than the PS90 - especially on the front end.

Black text on a dark gray background is a really bad choice.

For a temporary fix, hit Ctrl-A and all the text will be selected, you'll have blue text on a white background. Shazaam.

Are you looking into the SBR version, the version with the 16" barrel, or the version with the 10" barrel and permanently attached 6" fake suppressor?

To my knowledge, there is no 10" version with a permanently attached flash suppresor.

There is a 16" barrel. Or, U can pay the ATF fee and get the ok to change out the barrel to the 10" version.

Every fake suppressor I have seen so far slides over the existing 16" barrel.
