I am looking to get an ar15 on the cheaper side, and i found a set up I like, but my question is do PSA uppers feed cheap steel case ammo ok? I will be shooting primarily steel case ( if it's the cheapest) and hand loads

this is the upper in question :

Also, will a 20 inch upper with carry handle be awkward with a 6 pos. collapsible stock?

thanks!

(oh and if someone is going to suggest a different upper, it must be very close in price and 20 inch bbl)

It should be fine with steel. Hardchromed chamber is a plus as it's slipperier than steel and most the failures with steel case are FTEx and FTEj.

Some of the eastern .223 is loaded light and may not lock back the bolt on a empty mag. This is going to be worse until the rifle is broken in. Breaking in will smooth the surfaces down and carbon will seal the gas leaks.

Oh, yeah, run it wet, always. It's more important for the rifle to be well lubed when it's brand new but even when broken in almost every firearm runs better wet than dry.

I'm not convinced that what kind of lube you use is important, just use plenty of it.

Ditto on the importance of lube. I'm breaking in a PSA 20" upper and an LMT STD SOPMOD with Mobil 1, and in generous quantities. I'm using 15W50, but also have used 0W40, and 0W20. They run well with it.
