I just bought a PSA 9mm lower that accepts a colt mag.now i am being told that i need to buy a PSA upper to fit on the lower.i will be using a ramped bolt..so my question is will other upper brand receivers work on the PSA lower:banghead:

It says works best with PSA uppers on their website. You might want to call them to see if other uppers will work

Their AR15s are Mil-Spec and can take any Mil-Spec upper. However, their AR10s are not compatible with other maker's uppers. It says so right on their site. I may be mistaken, but I think the 9mm lowers are made off of their AR10 platforms, not their AR15 platforms so I would assume their rules of compatibility apply. You should check their site or email them for further information.

Question and read before you buy, according to an email I sent before I bought there glock style lower all there lowers are proprietary , there uppers are great buy the way.
Though in the original posters defence there site is very vague

Actually the question lacks certain details and contributes to some misunderstanding here.

What lower are we talking about? As already said, AR15 lowers are milspec and they are virtually interchangeable with any AR15 compatible upper. I have one with a Standard Arms upper on it - moot point it's a Cardinal Forge mark IIRC.

AR10's are like Chevy's - they actually are NOT interchangeable once the details are examined. It's one of those commonly accepted myths that the experienced can discuss in detail. Since there are no milspec AR10's other than the Portuguese models from 55 years ago those who remake retro lowers do so with their own proprietary blueprints and you are often forced to use their complementary upper. Until that changes it will be a major stumbling block in assembling one and increasing it's popularity. Major fail on the part of the industry, but these things weren't big sellers before and it was a decision based on competitive spirit. Now it's stuff like this coming up over and over in the forums which gets discussed - the complete inability to use whatever you like is the issue, quite the opposite of the AR15.

Maybe as time goes by and makers consolidate, which is always the long term trend, the blueprint will settle out to just one spec, but it will take decades. Until then the lowers and uppers in the AR10 market are more known for their mismatches, not that they pin on across the board.

It's too bad, too.
