PT-145 or Sig P229

A friend of mine came over the other day and saw my Pt-145 sitting on the table and absolutely fell in love with it, He Kept saying how much he liked it's size mag capacity etc. Finally after a while he offered to trade me for the Sig p229 .40cal.... it is a very nice handgun, I liked the weight, alittle heavier than my taurus, but it seemed to be built ALOT better, smother action on the slide etc. It has the Packmeyer ( sp i know) grips on it. Very nice looking, but it does have a few scratches. My taurus has now fired over a 1000 rds with the new frame , flawlessly, and does'nt have a scratch on it. So here's the question, In this fourms opinion , should I make the trade?? Or just stick with what I have. I will be using this for concealed carry and it is a little larger, and a smaller caliber than I'de like. But if it is a superior handgun then Im willing to overlook those issues. Please gimme some pro's and cons if you would. Thank you in advance for your opinions........Pain

I don't know... that's a good question.
Personally I think the SIG is the better handgun... but Taurus has a much better warranty and your already familiar with it.
But if your already asking, then your probably jonesing for the SIG and wont be satisfied until you get it.

Ask your buddy if you can trade for a week and see if you both like the others gun.

I have and like the pt145. I would probably trade him though. You could easily buy another pt145 and have some money left over if you ended wanting to sell the sig.

Good lord man does the guy know what he is offering. Hey he must since he had to have bought the P229.

I would go so far as to go buy a new PT145 and trade him for the SIG.

Do it unless your gun is a lemon and would endanger his life. Otherwise do not think just do.

The sig is a 1000 times better. Do the trade. The majority of the Taurus Autos I have shot have been jamamatics. Thier service department is not all that great from what I have heard on other boards. Plus it seems a lot of people need to use that life time warranty with Taurus guns time and time again.

IMO, as the conditions are stated, you would be ahead in the deal. you can always get another up-to-date PT145 later on, but I doubt you would get a deal like this for a used P229. If you wthink the deal is a little too one sided (as I think I'm leaning to), you might offer him a little cash too.

That's what I'm thinking... If you have something that you can buy new for $325 and someone's willing to trade for something that costs upwards of $500 and it's something you're interested in, I'd take the trade.
