PTR-91 Mags

Well I ordered myself a PTR-91 last night. Ive got a few days before it arrives so I have to get my reloading stuff all set up but I need the skinny on the PTR Mags on the market. Are there any manufacturers to watch out for or all generally universally issue-less? Also whats a fair price and whats a deal?
 
Get original HK mags. This is very easy because the market is flooded with them right now, and they're very cheap. They are also some of the best rifle magazines ever made. They come in both steel and aluminum variants. I prefer the aluminum ones as they're very light yet durable, and are corrosion resistant. The steel ones are strongly built and very tough, but heavy.

You can't go wrong with HK made G3 mags. There are none better made, and none cheaper either! Congrats on your PTR, they are great and fun rifles to be sure!! :D

PS: Don't be afraid to shoot cheap steel cased ammo through these guns, they are made to handle it. You would be hard pressed to be able to reload for less than the cost of just buying steel cased as well.
 
Holly cow! Cheaper than dirt has Steel and Aluminum HK mags for $2.97 each!!! I paid around $40 each when I bought my HK-91 about 15 years ago!

There is a glut on them now because the Germans sent us literally tons of their surplus magazines a while back. Buy 'em while they last, they're the best G3 magazines you can get.
 
$78.41 for 10 aluminum mags plus 10 steel mags including shipping from Cheaper than Dirt. I have no clue what I will do with 20 more mags on top of the 3 steel and 2 aluminum mags I already have but at this price I couldn't pass up the deal!

I have about 250 of those mags. I just went ahead and stored my ammo in them :uhoh::D
 
My G3 magazine order from Cheaper than Dirt came in today. A box of 10 steel mags and a box of 10 aluminum mags. I opened the box of steel mags first and they are all in good to very good shape. Everything is straight with no dents and the worst ones had some scratches with a touch of surface rust.

I was a little surprised when I opened the box of aluminum mags! 10 brand new mags in the factory sealed plastic bags with the paper protection wraps! I was really shocked to get brand new Aluminum magazines in perfect condition!

I still don't know what I am going to do with them all... but I am glad I ordered them when I did. LEss than $4 a magazine including shipping!
