Pump action AK .223?

I was in a pawn shop a while back and saw the strangest looking rifle ever. I wish I had a picture of it so that you would believe me but it turned out to be a pump action AK style rifle in .223. Has anyone else seen one of these? All I can say is STRANGE!

yep, it's strange,,it was designed to beat the ban in some states,,didn't have much demand, limited importation.

May have been discussed before but this is the first time I've ever seen that critter. I wouldn't want to own one, but I wouldn't mind trying one. That thing looks bizarre.

How much are they? Kinda seems like a neat piece though I don't really have any purpose at all.

There were several 'BAN' versions of the AR rifles made also. One was made a pump rifle that kept all the AR bolt, bolt carrier, recoil springs, buffer, ect.
They just added a pump sleeve to unlock and cycle the bolt.

And there is a left handed straight pull bolt versions of the AR to beat the last ban.
It was simply a slot cut in the upper receiver on the left side, and a bolt handle screwed into the bolt carrier.
The gas tube was removed so make it a 'MANUAL ACTION'.

This actually works quite well since your left hand is often doing nothing, and you can fire quite quickly from a rested position.

The 'PUMP' AK's had to be purpose built, while existing AR's could be retro fitted fairly easily when they came looking for 'Assault Rifles' on the 'Left Coast'.

That's like taking the motor out of a '47 Chevy Cabriolet, knocking out the windshield so you can hold the reins, and having a couple horses pull you around town.

Legislating oneself back in time is a supremely stupid idea, of course, preacher, choir, etc.

"They" don't exist in the supply channels any longer.

They were very much available between 1994 and 2004, but with the cessation of the AWB, they no longer have an attraction.
