Does the Exponent or Cap'n Ronnie remember the cops at Virginia Tech?

What were they doing? Finishing their donuts and establishing a perimeter around the slaughter pen.

The police will not be there to save you; the police will be there to write down what happened and to take photos.

You know El Tejon for some reason your comment reminded me of something I thought about earlier. It seems like lately the police are doing a better job OFF duty (trolly mall, et-al.) than when ON duty. <sigh>.

When you manufacture an argument or position such that you leave it vulnerable to the thrust of your main argument, that position is called a "straw man." It's just there to make your argument seem convincing.

"That's the same problem you have when undercover officers respond to something," said Ron Fosnaugh, a 33-year veteran of the Purdue Police Department who retired in 2003. "You have undercover officers being shot by police officers."

So he was with the Purdue Police for 33 years and has all this knowledge of undercover ops??? I realize there are trade journals, but if you want to speak as an authority, back it up with experience. (of course, could be the paper being wrong about how long he spent in the Purdue Poli

Let's regulate people on what they "MIGHT" do hypothetically...

How about you don't carry if you don't want to, I carry if I want to?

Then we'll be even!

That "argument" can be best summarized as:

"The CERTAINTY of being shot execution style by a mass murderer is PREFERABLE to the [remote] POSSIBILITY of being WOUNDED by someone who STOPS the killing by shooting the mass murderer."

The "logical" conclusion of this argument is that CERTAIN DEATH is better than the CHANCE of WOUNDING.

Well, as I usually respond to such assininity, "No, I refuse."
