Don - Here's an aged post of yours that I found archived on The Firing Line:

The AP-74 is pretty cool. The only bad thing about mine is that it has a little cross-block style safety. I know there are some out there with AR-style safeties, but I'm not sure if mine can be refitted. It DOES have a bayonet lug, and a standard bayonet fits perfectly. It's pre-ban, but even if it weren't, it's rimfire.
Two Qs:

1. What is the definition of a "standard bayonet", vis-a-vis one's desire to retrofit the same to an Armi-Jager AP 74?
2. Where in the world may one find original 15 round mags for the AP 74? Google, Numrich, and ebay were not helpful. I did find one available on a website (whose name presently escapes me) for $50.00 each. Yipes.

Thanks.

TM

P.S. - The Armi-Jager A.P.74 is an Italian-made .22LR clone of the AR-15.

In this case the "standard bayonet" is the standard US M7 bayonet for the M-16 rifle.

The original importer for the Armi-Jager was EMF, Early-Modern Firearms, who are still in business. You might try checking with them on mags.

Another likely source of magazines is Tom Forrest (TF Inc) who often advertises in the Shotgun News and The Gun List.

The original Armi-Jager was somewhat better quality and closer to the AR rifle than the later versions.
The original version was available in .22 LR and .32ACP.

I sold mine a couple years ago, but if you're going to shoot it alot it couldn't hurt to get the firing pin case hardened or something. I went through a couple of them on mine, they're soft and have a tendency to mushroom after some usage, especially if your bolt hold open works intermittently like mine resulting in a fair amount of dry fires. Light strikes not setting off rounds are annoying... Probably hard to find a replacement now so...

You'll just have to keep your eyes open on mags. CDNNinvestments had some for like $15 a year or so ago, but I never found any for a decent price when I wanted them...
