What's the easiest way to get a quadrail on a Rock River LAR-8 that currently has standard mid-length handguards?
Are there any that are compatible without making the barrel free floating?
Or would the easiest way be to free float?

What do you guys think? Any of you done this?

If you don't mind having a top rail that might be a different height than your receiver top rail, any midlength drop-in handguards should work. Troy and Midwest Industries make this type. Drop-in is much easier than doing a free float.

If you are OK with drop-in but want the top rail at the same height as your receiver, the drop-ins that Midwest Industries makes for the AR10 might work - or not. I would call them and ask before ordering.

If you want free float, because of the proprietary barrel nut threading, you are probably limited to what RRA sells.

Yeah drop in would be what I'm looking for, probably.
I'll look into those. What is the height difference between the rail and the receiver?
Anything else needed to free float besides the approriate threading?

Not sure of the height difference but probably around 1/4". It's possible that Midwest or even RRA could tell you.

On the free float, the barrel nut and threading is the main point, but I don't think that's readily changed or easy to modify to account for.

Ok, thanks.
I'm going to email RRA and see if they can give me a list of compatible drop in rail systems.
I don't think i see a problem with the rails being different height...
