hey all, i own a 6.5mm carcano

i know it is a fucile modello 91/41, manufactured in 1943 at Terni.

but what i dont understand is, all of the pictures i have seen of the fucile 91/41's show a rifle with either a full stock (up to the muzzle of the barrel) or a stock with wood on top of the barrel. my rifle has neither. i will attempt to get pictures today. i have searched the internet for answers, but have come up short

i have taken it out and fired it. not really a range report, but more like a backyard report :) i was hitting a paper plate sized rock at around 150 yds with it. 10 out of 12 shot hit the rock. 6 shots of milsurp and 6 shots of norma 139 gr
doesnt kick that much. really fun to shoot, now all i have to do is find cheap ammo...

thanks

Places Tinfoil Hat Securely On

Are you absolutely sure you were able to hit a 9" target at 150 yards?

According to some, the Carcano is impossible to shoot that accurately.

it is not impossible

some of those milsurp have a 50-50 chance of firing, so the age might interfere with accuracy

but i will restate the conditions: the distance could have been shorter, around 140 yds.
the rock wasnt a perfect circle like a paper plate but the majority of the hits were on a spot <11"

i dont want people thinkin im bragging about a 3 inch group at 700 yards with a red ryder, you know what i mean?

I was just joshing.

The "fact" that the Carcano was so inaccurate is made much of by those who prefer their tinfoil to have a Kennedyesque bent.

For all milsurp questions like this, get hold of Tamara, and ask her for input. If there's anyone more knowledgeable about them on THR, I haven't encountered him/her yet. PM her for info.

jwhisler? Is it possible that the rifle has been "sporterized"?

IOW's,the original stock either replaced or reworked to more resemble a hunting rifle?
