Hi. I have a gun safe and i want to get a dehumidifier for it. But i think i have an idea that will work just as well. Please tell me if this is a good or bad idea. I see the dehumidifier rods they sell. all it does is heat up to a low temp and the heat raises and then drys and circulates.. somthing to that effect anyway. Well i have a baby wipe heater. It is a real low temp just keeps the baby wipes warm. im sure you all know what one is. do you think that would work just as well for a dehumidifier? to me it sounds like a good idea. Thanks for any suggestions.

Several years ago someone told me to put bbq briquettes in womens nylons and hang them in my safe. Haven't had a problem since. I use them in both my safes that are in my garage.

Anything that puts about converts about 10 or 15 Watts of electricty into heat will work. The nice thing about the golden rod type heaters is that the heat is produced over the length of the rod with no hot spots and the rod doesn't take up much room in the safe.

Baby wipe heater?? Mom used ice cold pages out of the Sears-Robuck catalog on me.
You could use an ordinary low watt light bulb in your safe too.

Walmart sells dehumidifier "tubs" for around $3 in the iron / clothes care section. I have one in the rifle locker and one in the pistol locker. Works great.

Hi Everyone,
I'm in the market to purchase a rifle safe for my closet. I'm interested in a medium sized one that has a separate locking cabinet inside, along with a flexible interior and light. I would like to keep it at $1,200 or less. Any one have any leads on one? Thanks ahead of time, jcopd1
