What year did Remington discontinue the bolt lock feature on the safety?

1982. The 1983 and later model 700's do not lock the bolt.

My previous post was referring to the j-lock bolt shroud. Strongbad is correct about the bolt locking dates.

Thanks guys. I heard that you can send a newer 700 to them and they will convert the safety to a bolt lock for a "nominal" fee. You guys know anyone that has done so?
