With the exception of the collapsable stock, what is the difference between a Colt AR15-A2 Carbine and Rifle? They both seem to have the same 16" barrel and appears to have the same receiver. This carbine has a s/n of GC0048xx and is a preban. Will a standard AR stock fit this rifle? Will it also take replacement uppers also. Thanks for your help guys!:)

A carbine is generally 16" or less in barrel length, and a rifle is usually 20" and up. I don't know what you would classify an 18"? Uppers are swappable from one lower to the next. Colt may have issues with this though. Some Colts use non standard dia. pins, and I don't know if this effects upper fitment, from different brands. You can also put any buttstock on any AR. However milspec buffer tubes, are not the same as "commercial" tubes, and require matched stocks.

I am no expert, so this info may not be 100%.
