Will (all, some, any) 10mm semiauto's shoot .40 S&W's in them? Seems as they would IF they are headspacing on the extractor instead of the case mouth. Is that dangerous in any way (assuming they will function) or is it like shooting .38's in .357? Thanks.

Not recommended, although I'm sure someone probably does it!

If the .40's were head-spacing on the extractor, there would be a lot of slamming & hammering every time the case came flying back and smacked into the breach-block.
And you might have sever mis-fire problems in some gun designs if the firing pin couldn't quit reach the primers!

Not to mention a magazine length discrepancy that might or might not feed.

Shooting different length rounds like the .38 Spl in a .357 Mag is a revolver thing. They headspace on the rim so it doesn't really matter about case length.

The only gun that comes to mind is the S&W Model 610 10mm revolver using moon clips.
That works fine with .40 S&W ammo.

Worst that will happen is the rim will slip off the extractor and the round will either fail to fire or fail to extract. Ted Nugent has always bragged about doing this. My personal opinion is shoot 10mm in your 10mm and .40 in your .40.

Revolvers space off the rim and semi autos space off the case mouth so no not a good idea to try. You really do not want to mistreat your extractor by using it to control the round in this way.
