For those of you who have purchased Class 3 weapons, can you tell me what a typical time is for the ATF to process the form 4? Does 60 to 90 days sound about right?

Thanks.

It depends on who is your examiner. Here is a web site that lists the examiners and tells you how they are assigned.I had to wait 4 months for mine to go through but only because the guy I bought the gun from never told the BATF that he moved and the form 4 got sent back to his old address. From the date stamps on the form it would have only taken 2 months if it had been sent to the right address. Well good luck and I hope this helps.ATF Examiner link

Mine was about three months, but I couldn't tell you exactly. Something like that.

IIRC, my first one took right at 90 days. After that, they cleared a lot faster, generally around 4-5 weeks.

I haven't bought one since 9/11 and the splitting up of ATF between Treasury and Homeland Security. That may have altered the process a little and caused some delays.

I bought a suppressor over the summer and it took around 2 months for the Form 3 transfer to be approved. Then another 2 months for the Form 4 transfer but the C3 dealer handling it for me neglected to inform me the stamped form came in. So it sat around for another 2 months before I called the ATF and got the status on the thing.

So after 60-90 days it wouldn't hurt to check up with the ATF to see if anything is bobbled on the form or if they already sent it out and the dealer doesn't feel like telling you to pick up your toys. :scrutiny:
