Question Regarding HK USP .45 PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello everyone!
I'm interested in purchasing my first pistol...full size HK usp .45. I'm located in Southern California (orange county) and so far have found only 1 place that has them in stock, Ade's gun shop. The price is $799, but he only has the display for sale. It's a small store and seems as though he purchases additional inventory as he sells the previous one. Is there anything "wrong" with purchasing a display model as opposed to one that is brand new in the box? Also, is $799 a reasonable price? Any help would be much appreciated!

Oh yeah...Is there a reason why all the larger gun shops (i.e. Turner's) are all out of stock on this pistol? Are the 2007 models coming in soon?

Small "Mom & Pop" gunshops quite naturally are going too have to sell their
products for more than what you would expect from a "high volume" dealer.
$799 does seem kind'a out of the norm for a H&K-F, as its 'bout $60 on the
+ side. Prices also vary by region, so that may support the higher price of
the weapon you are look'in at? I sell the same gun right now for $739.88;
but we do expect all firearms too take a price hike next month (Feb. '07).

There is nothing wrong with buying the display model. Just check it over
very carefully for any nicks, dings, scratches, etc. Usually, the display
model can be had for 'bout $20 less than one NIB. Also, make sure the
dealer does have the original box and docs for the weapon in the display
case.
 
You could save a lot by buying a used one but that is up to you. CDNN had them for less than $500 in their last catalog but if I remember right they were .40.
 
HK USP 45 is a great pistol....awesome 1st pistol ;)
Try my favorite toy store. I was there yesterday, they had 3 USP 45, a 9 & a 40 in the case...plus a smattering of P2000s and a P7M8

Ade's is one of the most popular stores by Southern Californians. Many of us (from Calguns.net) rave about him. He's a little slow, a little hard of hearing, but he has very good business ethics.

Anyways, he takes care of his guns. The display model is nothing like the display models at Turners. All of Ade's guns look brand new. I have no reservations about buying a display model at a small gunshop. Plus, you get to inspect fit, finish and you KNOW which exact gun you're buying.

I'd buy it without thinking twice if that's what you want. $799 is OK price wise, but that price matches Turner's price when they're on sale.

Also, congrats to firearm ownership, Check out www.calguns.net . That's where us Californians also hang out. ;)

Thanks everyone!...You have made my decision much easier now that I have heard "what I wanted to hear." I suppose I should purchase the HK from Ade. He did seem like a very nice guy, and very willing to help me out. One last thing though...Is there any difference in buying the usp that was manufactured in 2006 as opposed to the 2007 ones that may be available in a few months?

Oh yeah...California gun control laws...from what I have learned so far....:fire:
 
It seems high, but you're in California.

Two years ago I paid $740 for mine with factory night sights at a gun show in Houston.

You may want to wait until the HK45 is available.
 
The HK45 eh? I just looked at the photos and they look very nice. Will they be legal for purchase in CA? When and how much? Thanks for letting me know about the new future product!...That would greatly peeve me if I purchased the USP and a new model came out...But won't all new models prohibit the shell in the chamber from being fired once the magazine is released? Not that I can imagine a situation when that would bother me.
 
Ahhh yes...very true...and maybe when you need to load a bullet really fast if someone is about to attack you then you can just load one in the chamber directly without the magazine (hopefully you can deter him w/ that one bullet long enough to load more). On a serious note though....The new HK45 will have the safety provision where you cannot fire a chambered round with the magazine released???
 
None of the current HKs have a magazine disconnect. I don't recall seeing anything about one on the HK45, unless it is a required in California.

Given California's requirements for handguns, it is likely that the HK45 will be available elsewhere first.

Actually in the DPRK 799 is about right. I have a USP full size and I love it. Mom and Pops may charge a little more, as for buying a display model you might be able to bargain it down a little, as long as the display model has no more than 1 round through it I would say its NIB, if its got more than that YOU CAN bargain it down and if they do not want to then dont get it.

Magazine disconnect, get a 2005 or 2006 model and you will not have the magazine disco,you can do that by finding out what the serial number is. ALL NEW weapons must have the magazine disco but this is not going to be a new model so you probably dont have the magazine disco, its worth it not to have the magazine disco.
