All other things being equal, I'm thinking that the quietest round out of a .22 rifle (I have an M-6 Scout, breakdown 'survival rifle' - .22LR over 410 bore) will be the *slowest* one, regardless of bullet weight, propellent used, etc.

My non-expert picks:
1. Aguila Super Colibri 22LR 20 grain 575 fps.
2. Fiocchi SM200 22S 29 600
3. CCI/RWS CB Caps 22L/22S 29 727
4. RWS BB Cap ?? 17 750
5. Aguila Subsonic 22LR 60 950

Your thoughts??

The Colibri one is the quietest, it's also slower than most air guns. That's Colibri, not Super Colibri which is hotter and louder.

The Aguila Super Colibri is meant to be a practice round ONLY. It can't even penetrate paper at a certain distance and only fires using a primer and no gunpowder.

Whilw the Colibri is the quietest, I would never shoot anything larger than a rodent with it. For any type of shooting past about 50ft, they just drop too much. I prefer the Remington Subsonics myself. They are reasonably quiet, very accurate and they still hit with a decent amount of power.

my M6 quiet ammo

ive had an M6 for a few years and built a survival system out of it.

i modded it out some to expand its use and divercity.

if i need power ammo for hunting i use CCI mini-mag HP's. if i need to use it quietly but still have some power to shoot quietly i use Remington Subsonic. if i need it super quiet for hunting in "Indian country" then i use CCI CB's. however i have found that Winchester sells large boxes of CB shorts for much less than the CCI's. my thoughts are that i would rather buy up the Win. CB shorts and be able to store away more for my dollar than buy a few higher priced ones and stretch my purchasing time out over months. best of luck! -Eric

FWIW I had the rear sight on my M6 completely milled off and a weaver rail mounted in its place with a strong steel rear aperture attached to it. POA for CCI mini-mags and Winchester 410 3 pellet OOO Buck is identical at 25 yards.
