I have been thinking of getting a Raging Bull in either the 480 or the 454. I don’t know anyone that has one in the 480 to get feed back on it. The only write-ups I can find are on the srh. Does anyone have any experience with one and how does it compare to the 454. One of my reasons for going this route is the 480 is a lot less money. The srh is a bit bulky for my taste. To bad its not offered in the Bisley and the Freedom Arms is sweet but out of my budget.

I have a SRH .454. I like it. A lot.

Versitility maximus. Want to plink? Roll up a cream-puff .45 Colt load that is no hotter than a .45ACP. Roll that .45 Colt as hot as you want for hunting purposes. Feel free to crank those heavy .454 loads as fast as you want, too. As long as you can physically tolerate the pain and still pry the brass from the cylinder, you're fine. .45 cal bullet selection is probably going to be better, as well (I say this out of speculation, as I have not looked into bullet selection for the .480).

The .454 can be loaded colder or hotter than the .480. If you like the bigger diameter bullet, go with the .480. Or if price is a critical factor and you can get a good deal on the .480, do it. Otherwise, I recommend the .454.

That said, I can't fault the .480 and I'm sure you'd be happy with it. After all, it does hurl a really big bullet at very respectable velocities.
