So last week I picked up a used .45 to add to the collection. After an abysmal time on the range with it I gave up and took it back to the LGS to swap it for something else.
I had really been in the market for another .45 but could not really find anything I wanted that was less than $1,000. Not wanting to spend that much just now they had one of those little SW22 Victory target pistols with the threaded barrel. It was priced right and I made the swap.
I had not had my Ruger target 22/45 out in a while, so I took it along with the SW22 and my switch cylinder Ruger Old Army (I have the 45 ACP and 45 LC cylinders for it) out for a little range time.
Now, I had not had the ROA out with the new cylinders since I bought them (working WAY too much).
I spent a few hours shooting the two tack driver 22's and alternating between 45 ACP and light 45 LC rounds in the ROA. It has been a really long time since I shot either 22 or 45 LC.
I literally had one of the best range sessions in recent memory. Plinking with the 22's and then letting the big 45 roar was just a hoot.
I have spent so much time in the past few years shooting 9mm and 45 ACP for combat, that just enjoying range time had become secondary.
I need to slow down and really remember what it is like to enjoy range time and not just train. Even though I got plenty of trigger and sight training with the little 22's.
Just a great day!
