My own little slice of Purgatory
Well I've been burning for a Para Ord for some time...especially since they came out with the new LDA trigger system but I thought it was far in my future. I stopped by a gun store about a month or two ago and saw a 7.45 LDA in the case and asked if I could dry fire it. Permissions granted, I picked it up and .... magic....that trigger was smooth as snot. I had to have one.

Double stacks have never bothered me even though I have relatively small hands. I cut my teeth on a BHP and I also have a Witness 45. I searched around a bit and saw several Para Ords offered on Guns America for GREAT prices from the same dealer. Called the guy up and it seems that the PO truck came through a while back and sponsored a "test fire" day. The dealer took the option to buy the guns and is now selling them off.

I immediately ordered a 14.45 LDA Limited in stainless...I finally picked it up on Sunday and man, is she a beaut. One tiny handling mark on the top of the slide that isn't noticable unless you shine a light on it. Other than that, she is pristine....basically looks unfired. Machining is nice, all the parts lock up tight, trigger is that long but nice smooth, light action, breaks like glass around 5 pounds.

I've read about problems with feeding and slide lock mostly to do with the mags. So I was anxious to get it out and test fire her.

Took the chance to go to the local Bass Pro Shop range over lunch today. Loaded the first mag with 5 of my standby's...230 gr ball over 5.3 gr of 231. Ran the target out to 7 yards since I was just doing a function check. Fired at a rate of about 1 shot per second. Results = one ragged hole POI=POA. Hmmm...think I like this gun. Ran the target out to 25 yards and used my pistol case as an expedient rest. 3 shots = 2" just below POA. 2 more open it up by another inch. OK so far. Ran 100 rounds give or take through it...slow fire, rapid fire, full mag, hollowpoints (my HD loads of 230 gr Hornady XTP JHP over 5.6 gr 231.) She ate them up without a bobble.

Keeper.

On another note, one round was primer only...obviously didn't get a powder drop on the progressive reloader (I now have a powder check die, thank you). Sent the bullet fully into the rifling. Took the barrel out, borrowed a block of wood and a ball peen hammer and used a section of a cleaning rod to drive the bullet back out. Unfortunately the rod drove itself into the bullet all the way from the nose to the base...it's not coming out. It will make a good conversation piece to keep on my desk at work.
