All,
Finally was able to get to the range to limber out my new 386 SC/Ti. Gun was puchased LNIB, gun was advertised as never shot, and it did not appear so.

First impressions were "my god this thing is light". It almost feels like a toy revolver. This finish on this is not pretty and seems uneven in places, but this is common on this model per my investigations. The orange hi vis sight is nice, and will take some getting used to, POA seems as is it will be different then all my other guns, for elevation and horizontal. Grip actually seems to small, could use a little more substance in the third finger area, but slim and comfortable. Gun is a breeze to carry IWB, has no weight to it and no sharp edges to dog into my fat rolls (;) ).

Shooting was done offhand at 7 yds with 50 rds of .38 special 148gr and 50 rds of .357 magnum 125g. First off, the .38 S were nice to shoot. The same robust recoil of a GP100 with .357 mag loads. Nothing unpleasant at all. Accuracy was not great, even SA. Since these were the first shots out of this gun I am not going to judge accuracy until the DA trigger breaks in and the barrel gets broken in. The .357 mag loads were more forceful, with much more flash around the cylinder, but not unpleasant and actually sort of fun. The gun did jump straight up with recoil, but came back to target rather quickly. I actually thought it felt like a hot .40 semi, 10mm or .41 mag recoil.
Definetly felt it in the hand, but nothing that would ever make me say this is to much. Hi Vis sight made target acquisition easy, but the size limited pinpoint accuracy. Still the gun was most DEFINTELY accurate enough for a combat sidearm, I had no problem hitting black on the target.

The DA trigger is not that heavy, stacks a bunch and then snaps quickly. The SA is nice and easy, very quick to let go. I am going to have to get used to the DA pull as it seems that the trigger releases the hammer much earlier in the triggers travel range then the SA does. I hope I am explaining that correctly. My GP had the SA and DA release in almost the same area, at the end of the triggers travel.

All in all, a keeper. This gun is going to become the carry gun, it is just to easy to live with, light weight, powerful, 7 rounds, carry extra rds very easily and somewhat snazzy. Big thumbs up to the 386.

Do you know if the hammer and trigger are titanium? I don't know if it would make any difference but I was just curious.

It was a good range report! I'm still playing with mine. I like the weight and the 7th shoot but for self defense I find the shot to shot recovery time with .357 pretty slow. It works great with 135 gr. Speer Short Barrel .38 Special ammo! my only concern there is that with the Hi-Vis sights I can't seem (so far) to get the accuracy at 25 or even 15 yards that I can with my 2.5" S&W 66 (which handles .357 loads quite nicely). Dennis

Harry .. dont know if the trigger/hammer are steel or not. Interesting point though, they do feel different but that does not mean anything.

Dennis, I was thinking about looking for a smaller sight system, but it is good out to 15 yds. Anything further then that is shotgun work for me anyway.

"it is good out to 15 yds. Anything further then that is shotgun work for me anyway"

I hear you but I regularly CCW and if it's going to replace my M66 in my holster I want to be accurate out to 25 yards. Yeah, I know you never need a self defense gun at 25 yards, but I want that margin of accuracy on my side. Likely I won't carry a shotgun in my IWB holster so it won't have one with me. LOL! Dennis

it is hard to carry a 870 IWB, but sometimes the shoulder holster work!

He77, I cant see past 15 yds anyway.

carry is right now a

uncle mikes IWB until i find something better. I am lefty so some holsters are hard to find.

I have a OWB Sippel Solution holster on order. Check it out on Ebay, I know the guy that makes them and they are first rate OWB one size fits all guns sort of deal.

by the way, waited until i found the right deal and jumped. Under $600.

I have had my 386 for a couple of years now and it is a fine, fine carry piece. Just for the heck of it I put the grips for the S&W 500 mag on it and they fit perfectly. It changes the shooting/recoil characteristics of the little gun dramatically - much softer recoil and second shot recovery. It also changes the concealed carry characteristics somewhat as these grips are large but, so far, that has not turned out to be a big deal at all.

I carry the 386 in a FIST #1 clip holster and, believe me, this is a great way to go with this very light gun. Easy on, easy off and completely secure.
