All,
Finally was able to get to the range to limber out my new 386 SC/Ti. Gun was puchased LNIB, gun was advertised as never shot, and it did not appear so.
First impressions were "my god this thing is light". It almost feels like a toy revolver. This finish on this is not pretty and seems uneven in places, but this is common on this model per my investigations. The orange hi vis sight is nice, and will take some getting used to, POA seems as is it will be different then all my other guns, for elevation and horizontal. Grip actually seems to small, could use a little more substance in the third finger area, but slim and comfortable. Gun is a breeze to carry IWB, has no weight to it and no sharp edges to dog into my fat rolls ( ).
Shooting was done offhand at 7 yds with 50 rds of .38 special 148gr and 50 rds of .357 magnum 125g. First off, the .38 S were nice to shoot. The same robust recoil of a GP100 with .357 mag loads. Nothing unpleasant at all. Accuracy was not great, even SA. Since these were the first shots out of this gun I am not going to judge accuracy until the DA trigger breaks in and the barrel gets broken in. The .357 mag loads were more forceful, with much more flash around the cylinder, but not unpleasant and actually sort of fun. The gun did jump straight up with recoil, but came back to target rather quickly. I actually thought it felt like a hot .40 semi, 10mm or .41 mag recoil.
Definetly felt it in the hand, but nothing that would ever make me say this is to much. Hi Vis sight made target acquisition easy, but the size limited pinpoint accuracy. Still the gun was most DEFINTELY accurate enough for a combat sidearm, I had no problem hitting black on the target.
The DA trigger is not that heavy, stacks a bunch and then snaps quickly. The SA is nice and easy, very quick to let go. I am going to have to get used to the DA pull as it seems that the trigger releases the hammer much earlier in the triggers travel range then the SA does. I hope I am explaining that correctly. My GP had the SA and DA release in almost the same area, at the end of the triggers travel.
All in all, a keeper. This gun is going to become the carry gun, it is just to easy to live with, light weight, powerful, 7 rounds, carry extra rds very easily and somewhat snazzy. Big thumbs up to the 386.
