Sorry I don't have time to post pictures today, but I got out to the range yesterday and was able to try the new Millett sights on my Norinco and my new to me LB TRS. The Norinco was shooting a little high and to the left at 15 yards and in my haste to get out there, I didn't bring a screw driver to adjust the sights. The LB was dead on and both shot well enough that I know I am the limiting factor. I shot them both two handed, standing.
At 25 yards with the TRS, I was able to keep 5 out of 7 shots in a 6 inch circle, which is the best I have ever shot with any pistol. If I had gotten 6 shots in the circle, that would qualify me to shoot my pistol on the rifle side of the range, which has always been a goal for me.
With factory ammo, I had no feeding problems, but with my reloads I had two Zero 185 grain semi wad cutters fail to feed in my Norinco. I also loaded 200 grain semis, 230 RN lead and 230 grain FMJ and had no problems with them in either pistol.
I blame my hand loads for this, as I haven't perfected getting a consistant COL on my semi auto reloads, but the LB didn't hiccup at all. I hadn't ever had a failure to feed problem with the Norinco before, so I really feel these two were my fault.
The range officer did come by and spend some time looking at the TRS and talking to me about it, so for your extra $ you get a coolness factor and an improvement in 25 yard accuracy.
If I had a ransom rest, I might try doing a more scientific comparison of the two, but if you are a mediocre shot like me, you probably won't notice a huge difference. Due to work, I get out to the range fewer times a year than I have fingers.
I do appreciate the quality of the build of the LB, so I'm very satisfied with my purchase and I think $400 for a Norinco is a bargain if someone is looking for a 1911 on the cheap.
