I am sure the manufacturers are making as much ammunition as they can. The problem isn't with them, it's the folks in Washington DC. :banghead:

I've noticed that since the Walmart(s) around here have implemented the same type of policy, I've actually started to see ammunition start to linger on the shelves a bit longer. Placing a per purchase or per day limit on ammunition seems to give supply a chance to catch up, and if it means I'll actually be able to obtain ammunition again in a semi-regular fashion again, I'm for it.

The problem isn't with the manufacturers. It's with the tens of millions of panic buyers exceeding the nominal purchasing rate of the entire population of America. DC isn't limiting ammo. They provided the impetus for panic buying. It's the panic buyers drying up supply.

While I agree panic buying is the root cause, you can't ignore the government/federal agencies buying insane quantities of ammo. They are still the leading purchaser even above civilians. (Sorry no source to link but if the several articles I've read and distributors I've talked to are to be believed)

This. We tend to be our own worst enemies.

The government has always been the largest purchaser of ammo. However, do we have data on what their baseline annual purchases are so we can compare baseline purchases to the "government purchases a billion rounds" stories making various news outlets the last several years?
