Raw lead?

not sure how soft you need for BP, but I pick up 15-20 lbs(a 30 cal ammo can scoop out of the berm) every trip to the range and its all pretty darn soft. especially if you pick out all the cast and plated boolits. Its all free but after the time pulling out the rubber, washing it down and propane to melt it down, its a wash over just working an extra hour and buying the lead. self sufficiency is key.

Wheel weights are the way to go..

For cast pistol bullets, I agree. That's about all I use. I even cut it with pure lead for lower velocity stuff like .38 Spcl.

However for BP applications, clip on wheel weights are too hard. Now the stick on strips would work fine as they are just a shade harder than pure. They're so close in fact, most casters treat them as pure.

Check your local scrap yards. There are 3 near where I live that buy lead so they would probably sell it also. Wish I would have seen this last week cause friday I sold 199 lbs to the highest paying yard. $.50 a lb. If ya find some that needs shipping have them use the flat rate boxes. Ya can ship up to 70 lbs in them.
