I believe my Yugo M70 AK47-pattern rifle has a mag release that is mounted too low, causing some feeding issues. Is this something that can be fixed relatively easily/cheaply? I'm wondering if I might be able to buy a longer mag catch and install it?

Would Century fix it even if its past warranty (after paying them obviously)?

You can buy a new one and fit it or try sending it back to CAI. They may even have someone that is compentaent to install a mag catch, although I would bet against it.

For the price of mailing your rifle in you can buy a couple of mag catches and pivot pins. It isn't that hard to install them. You basically drill out one side, and punch the old pin out and remove the old parts. The hardest pat of installing the new catch is the spring.

The trick is to catch the legs of the spring in a vise, then keep them together with a nylon cable tie. Once all the parts are in place cut and remove the cable tie.

To press both heads of the pivot pin at the same time I tape two ball bearings to the jaws of a vise. Line everything up and squeeze the vise shut, which sets both heads of the pivot pin.
