Ready to order Ted Cash capper. Prices and availability?

I posted some time ago asking advice about a capper for my ROA and other accessories. I still review and appreciate all the responses. I'm recovering from a total knee replacement as I type this and haven't been able to travel to the big city to find a Ted Cash Snail capper, so I shall order on the net. Cabela's prices are higher than some, but they are the only retailer I'm familiar with. Who do a lot of you experienced BP shooters get your accessories from? Another thing with this capper is that it's available in German Silver, an alloy I'm not familiar with. Are there advantages to this material? As always, thank you for help. Don

There's no difference other than appearance between the brass and German silver capper materials. I have one of each - the brass one is for No. 10 caps and the silver one is for No. 11 caps.

Really? The color difference denotes different sizes? I didn't know that. All I use is Remington #11's as the CCI/Winchester #10's don't fit my ROA. I bought the brass one because it was cheaper. It seems to work fine. It's a relatively rare event if a cap turns sideways. If I use some of my RWS 1075+'s, I never have an issue.

No, the color difference is ONLY for appearance. I happen to use them to keep the sizes separate and easy to identify which size I put in which capper. You can certainly use either or both sizes in either or both cappers.

German silver really has nothing to do with silver. I believe the Chinese originally started using it (not the Germans) because of its corrosion resistance and because it was cheaper than the real thing.

Typically German Silver is 50 to 60 percent copper with pretty close to equal parts zinc and nickel. It has advantages over silver in that when it corrodes it doesn't turn black, it's much harder than silver allowing manufacturers such as gun makers to use it for receivers etc. and it costs less.

It will develop a patina especially when you expose it to the by products of dis-charged black powder, typically the patina will appear as a yellowish coating and gives it an antique appearance.

I use one of each Ted Cash snail cappers. The brass one holds my #11 caps and the silver one holds my #10's. Both are universal and will hold either size cap.
