First and foremost, my heart goes out to the families and the victims in said tragdy. I dont know much about the specifics, as I just heard it on the news, but I do know that some guy went off of the deep end, took an 'automatic weapon' (remains to be seen...) and killed several people, at random.

That being said, I have a question and please, excuse the tin foil hat, I rarely dawn it, but sometimes, you just have to wonder...

Am I the only one who notices that whenever we are on the verge of anti-gun legislation, or like now, staring down the barrel (pardon the pun...) of a severely anti-gun administration, we are bombarded by school shootings, random acts of violence, all using firearms none the less across the country. Its just like a dozen people all of the sudden, with no prior violent history wakes up and decides, Im going to go kill a bunch of people with a gun.

Now, I know that there are shootings every day across the country. But again, do some research on the internet, and everytime we are on the brink of even MORE anti-gun legislation, BAM (again with the puns...) several high profile, mass shootings turn up, randomly, with guns being the criminals instead of the actual shooter. Everyone knows that the shooters used "armor piercing rounds" or "machine guns" but ususally no one can recall the shooters names or even the victims names, everyone (the media) is so overly concerned about the guns, that they forget that people were operating them. THe guns didnt leave the shop to go out and produce a mass killing on thier own.

Thoughts...?

1. I wear as much tinfoil as anyone else, but I think it's ridiculous to say that the gubment was behind these.

2. The media always focuses on the guns as if they committed the crime by themselves. This is nothing new.

3. We've had several threads about recent shootings and nearly all of them have been closed. These are sad occurrences but just because it involved a gun doesn't mean we should be discussing it here.

Appreciated.

Not today - we have no way to address it one way or t'another and random speculation helps nobody.

Let's allow the dust to settle before we go speculatin' on the outcomes and the why of it all.
