I have a couple boxes of Rainier 40sw 135gr FP and 165gr HP plated bullets. Anyone have a favorite recipe for these size bullets? Preferably using WSF powder.

Looking for a recipe for these bullets that keeps the 40 from being so "squirrelly."

I typically shoot 180gr RN with 5.3gr WSF for IDPA, which has been very accurate for me. Minimal recoil while meeting power factor.

I like universal clays for my 40s. I load 165s. Here's what I do, but work up to it. It's past hodgdon's max. It's using data interpolated from the Lee manual and speer. The mod for the reloading section. Walkalong, posted it once stating it worked well in multiple guns. It is over hodgdon's max, but not others.

1.130-1.135 OAL

6.1 grains of Universal

165 grain projectile

Any case, any small pistol primer.

I shoot itty bitty groups with it at 15 yards. Recoil is not bad. My velocity is about 1020 ish from my P229 . Universal seems to have a few accuracy nodes. I had equally good luck with 5.3 grains but it was low 900s fps. I wanted something a little faster.
