I really need a soft rifle bag/case to replace the cardboard box I've been using. I was impressed with the i-shot bag that was reviewed here, but it's too much for what I need. If possible, I'd prefer to spend less than $100. Requirements:
  • Length: needs to fit a full-length M1A/M14 (44.5" OAL)
  • Must be "discreet". I've no need for a gun-shaped gun bag. Brown or tan color preferred.
  • Shoulder strap and side pocket for mags, etc.
Anything that fits?

i-Shot has a bag coming out that's based on the TCC that you've seen. It's called the CCC and the basic design will be the same, sans the PALS. The TCC is available in a 46" length, so I can only assume that the CCC will be available in the same length. If you contact Helmie (through www.ishot-inc.com) he can give you the lowdown on the ETA, pricing, and availability.

The downside is that he doesn't currently deal in the colors you are looking for.

Outside of the i-Shot bag, Tactical Tailor has a solid product here:
http://www.tacticaltailor.com/products/bags/covert_carry_case/
It's available in 45", in OD or Black. They can probably do a custom case for you in the color of your choosing for a small premium.

Maxpedition also makes solid products, but I don't care for the design of their current rifle bag. The expansion sleeve for the barrel is not padded and makes the case look distinctly "gun-shaped." While I can vouch for their products being sturdy, I'd look elsewhere for your gun case based on the design.

Thanks, Techbrute. I sent an email to Helmie and Tactical tailor with some questions about their wares.
