In anticipation of the end of the CA handgun SSE (single shot exemption) making it impossible beginning 1/1/15 to purchase any handgun that is not on the (ever shrinking) CA DOJ list of approved handguns, I directed my buying dollars this year to fill out my list of 'must have's' in the handgun category. I'm pretty pleased with how it worked out, though my wife is a bit less happy.
Next year my purchasing plans are more modest and will focus on two long guns.
But I was hoping to hear from anyone who may have shot and/or own a Taylor Alaska Takedown lever rifle - (16"/.44 mag is my preference). I'd like to hear what you think.
The other is likely to be a FN SCAR Heavy/.308 but those reviews and threads are everywhere. Still haven't decided to go forward with it though.
Sadly I ran out of time to purchase a pistol receiver for a .300 BLK build and that was only possible here in CA with the SSE still in place. I've used up my allotted time slots so it appears that that one's gone forever. That's a bummer.
