Greetings,

Dang!

Just bent the rod inside my dillon 223 decapping die.....and broke also my decapping pin. Of course i have plenty of decapping pins, but no rod.....

I have a spare redding die but no instruction how to set it up. I just did a few tests with my case gauge and it seems the set up looks like go down to the shell plate and 1/2 turn back. That way, the case is between the top and low notch with the case gage.

Anyone has the official settings from redding?

Thank you

That sounds like a good starting point, as long as the sized case will allow the bolt to close and lock up, which, in my opinion, is the more important question.

What Redding says to do has nothing to do with how you may have to set it to work with your shells. If ½ turn back results in proper sizing for your shells, then that's where it should be.

When working with a shell plate, your case gage is your guide. If using a shell holder, then the FL die should make contact. 1/2 turn is backing off way to much even with a shell plate. IMO.

Yep. This 1/4 turn, 1/2 turn crap is useless by its self. :)
