This is a FR-8 that I bought a couple of months ago. I’ve spent several weekends refinishing the stock. It took a week or so to remove the finish it came with, and the rest applying the new one.
To apply the new finish I cut sandpaper (of 220, 320, 400, and 600 grit) into squares and dipped them in a mixture of one part tung oil, one part Danish oil, two parts mineral spirits. I started with the course grain and worked to the finer grains. It was very time consuming, but I’m pleased with the result. I’m not sure the pictures do it justice. Now I’ve go to get it to the range.
