Refinished GI Springfield

I decided to have my GI model refinished. I really like the way it feels and shoots! I may have spent a bit more than I originally intended, but I ended up with exactly the gun I wanted.

This is what I ended up with: Springfield GI Mil Spec, Novak low mount tritium sights, Springfield barrel and bushing, Wilson Combat Extractor, Brown slide stop, Nowlin springs (a good Okla. company!), Chip McCormick beavertail, thumb safety and hammer, beveled mag well, lowered and flared ejection port, stippled front strap, olive Armor Tuff on the frame, black Armor Tuff on the slide and controls, and Chip M. 8 round PowerMags.

Here it is with its Stainless Mil Spec bother and one of the Kimbers.

Ain't building one the way you want it fun? My current project is on a '66 Colt, with 20lpi checkering on the frontstrap, a flat S&A mainspring housing w/lanyard loop & 20lpi checkering, Dlask hammer, Ed Brown memory groove beavertail grip safety, long STI trigger, and a McCormick thumb safety off an old Kimber. Haven't decided on sights yet...

It was in the neighborhood of $350. I actually had two guns smithed at the same time, the other a stainless Mil Spec. I am going to the range tonight to start breaking this one in. I shot a defensive pistol class with the stainless last weekend, and it performed flawlessly. The slide on this one is much tighter, though, and it may need some loving while I break it in.
