I picked up a cosmeticly well worn but mechanicly near mint Smith and Wesson 34-1 today at the gunshow for a song. Its blue finish is bare in spots but there is no bad piting. I would like to hav it refinished in either parkerizing or matte blue. Where can I have this done in central South Carolina for a resonable price. I really want to avoid the high cost associated with mailing it away to be refinsihed.
BTW...not really interested in moly or duracoat as I can do these myself...and not really what i'm looking for on this gun.

Thanks,
Jason

sorry, a 34-1 is a j-frame S&W revolver in .22 lr.
Yea, I got it at Florence. There were lots of good deals on revolvers...everything else was way overpriced. Guess everyone is focused on weapons that could soon be banned. There was a near mint Colt Police Positive in .38 SPECIAL that I regret having to have left behind.

This fellow is in Simpsonville, SC. He may not be near enough to you to suit, but I can personally vouch for his workmanship, service, and prices. He's done work for me on my rifles and pistols, and has had the fortitude to turn down work on one of my Parker shotguns, asking that I take it to someone who does that sort of work. What you seem to be wanting is definitely within his capabilities.

Contact S&W. They offer a call-tag service that eases the costs of going through the transfer process. As a manufacturer, they can do this where others cannot. I do not recall the price offhand. It is on their website somewhere, but it is hard to find - their web site leaves a lot to be desired in user-friendliness. The value of having it factory refinished is worth comparing in cost before getting a less-desirable refinish job elsewhere.

Jason, there is another one in Fountain Inn, upstate armory group, his name is Bob. He usually is at most of the gun shows around here. I have never had him do any work though, so I can not vouch for that.

Isaac McCaskill of Cassat Gun Works offers re-park services.

He has no internet presence, but give him a call during business hours.
