Need a bit of help, I Bought my 10/22 used with lots of pitting and scratches in the blue or the barrel and in the trigger assembly. I have seen and talked some with a gental man who lightly sanded down the receiver to take is back down to metal and i plan on doing this to mine, but could it be done with the trigger assemble, i have done the barrel band already and it looks nice, note sure if i can do the trigger group. and can these parts then be powder coated. I want to turn them purple and pink.

then refinish the stock in a purple and get some pitting out. Thanks.

ya, i am lightly sanding with 400grit paper. where can i get duracoat kits.

and if i decide to leave it at aluminum, how could i protect it from rusting. just simply oiling it or is there a special coating to put on it.

Look at Brownells for Alum a Hyde spray paint. No baking required. It is very tough coating and cures over several days, not sure if they have it in your color choices. It works on regular metal also (like the barrel)

If it's pitted, start with a coarser grit wet dry paper, 220, 320, 400 and then 600. Degrease with break cleaner, wipe with a tack cloth and spray away.

The easy way out is to find someone with a sandblaster. First lightly sandblast and them have them bead blast. Dull matte finish and the marks and dings will be gone.

This is a barreled action that has been sandblasted, polished (buffer), taped, and bead blasted.
