Need some imput please........
I have a Blued Kimber Series I Custom Classic that is showing wear. More than I can tolerate. It really hasn't bothered me till now. I'm thinking about refinishing it. Should I get it reblued, hard chromed, or some other finish? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Industrial hard chrome is a good finish. The ones we did, long ago, came out a sort of bluish light grey. I think it comes in black now though. Finding a place to do it may be a problem. Try the Yellow Pages for metal finishers. Call 'em and ask if they'll do handgun parts.
Parkerizing is also an option. Nice grey colour, the shade of which depends on the steel. Luberite is another. Nice smooth flat black. Holds oil well too.

Kimber uses stainless for a lot of their frames, "blued" or stainless, so you may want to "hit" one of the worn area's with a touch of cold blue to see what yours is made of. That may alter your choices.

Just a "heads up".

You have a lot of choices today. Just make sure that what ever finish you choose it is done by a qualified refinisher that will stand behind his work.

If I can be of any help please feel free to give me a call at 423-639-8924
Or post any questions you might have:)

Ditto CCR. I can't advise you on any finish. I Like flat black gun's myself, but always loved the Electroless Nickle lowers with the bright blue top ends that Bidwell and I did years ago. Ed Brown was a fan of this combo back then , too. We did the sticky outy parts blue, also.

OK....I think I no a bit about refinishing....we use for OEM refinishing (not just occasional guns, hundreds and hundereds)..

Blue/parkerizing............WE DO IT...

Paint Finishes...we do a few, but we are gonna stop doing volume until our new facillitiy is set up

Teflon andS imilar...Wilsons and Rocky Mountain Arms..

Hard Chrome....Accurate Plating and Weaponry..

Black Chrome...same

Im a little partial to the paints and the black chrome myself...

We have tried many different refinishers...some are good, some are bad..the ones listed here have the highest level of consistency without error
