New to this and have never reloaded anything, but am wanting to reload shot gun shells. i currently have 2 12guages and am looking at a 20 guage as well. I have a great place to do the reloading and have seen the Lee presses and they seem like a good deal.

Any suggestions or direction you may be able to offer would be great !!!

Thanks !!!

I like most Lee products, but after handling a Lee shotgun loader and a MEC, I lost interest in the Lee really fast. Picked up a MEC Sizemaster used off eBay or Gunbroker or something for about $50. It has way more mechanical advantage, a bunch more room to work on the machine, and is made out of metal. Add the universal charge bar, and changing loads is a matter of dialing in. Havent handled a Hornady or RCBS shotgun loader, but 'm sure they are fine too, just more expensive. MEC seems to have the best of it all.

I use a Lee load all and it works fine. Picked it up used for $5. It does have a tendency to leak a bit of powder when I use HS-6.

I only reload for dove/quail so it is working out for me so far.

I have a few MEC reloaders, and have used a Lee. There is no comparison. The MEC is a real machine, the Lee is a flimsy piece of junk.

Should you get a Lee? Maybe. If your ammo needs are low and you don't want to spend much money the Lee fits the bill pretty well. It is also a good way to learn how to reload shotshells and find out if you want to continue reloading without spending a lot of money.

I have a

thirty-year-old Lee LoadAll in 20 ga. and a new one in 12 ga. and they work just fine. They are plastic, but so what. Make nicely crimped shells every time, and easy to use. Got three woodcock the other day with shells my youngest boy loaded up for me.

shotshell presses

I would recommend a MEC press maybe a grabber & then you can up grade if you dicide to continue with your reloading, maybe then go to a MEC 9000 they're auto indexing, very nice operation, good luck, good shooting, be SAFE;)
