I recently bought a used Remington Model 7, in .308 from a buddy. I am thinking about building a Scout Rifle out of it.
The one problem with this rifle is that the it has a very lightweight barrel is that it strings the round when it heats up. I'm thinking about having it cryo-treated ($50)
Next step would be to mount an moptic rail. I found this one
http://xssights.com/store/scope.html (bottom of the page)
also for sale at brownells
http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=50&title=SCOUT SCOPE MOUNT
($70)
Afterwards, I would mount a Nikon or Burris pistol scope (~$250) and hopefully have a great, lightweight handy rifle.
What do you guys think?
