Remington 700 BDL caliber change

I have a Remington 700 BDL chambered in 7MM ultra Mag. I would like to rechamber the action to a Remington 308. Is the cost effective and can I do it?

Sell it and buy a .308. In addition to a new barrel, you'd need a new bolt with the 'standard' .473" bolt face. Even then, you'd probably experience feeding problems.

New barrel, new bolt, new magazine, and maybe a new receiver.

The 7mm RUM is 3.600" inches long with a .534" bolt face built on a long action.

The .308 Win is only 2.820" long with a .473" bolt face built on a medium length action.
