Remington 700 vs Browning X-Bolt

The better buy is the one you're the most comfortable with. Chances are they are both plenty accurate and will both outlast you if properly cared for. Get whichever one feels the best to you.

By the way, I think the X-Bolts look sexy too.

I didnt mind the A bolts but the x bolts are ugly! There both good shooters so thats a wash. So to me it comes down to looks and for the same price id take a cdl hands down.

Your x-bolt looks much nicer than either of the two rifles I was looking at. The x-bolt I am looking at has a gray synthetic stock that makes it look cheap, would this be a deal breaker for any of you? and is Redfeild really made by Leopuld? I like the Vortex brand scopes for sure.
It's a White Gold Medallion model in .243. Bought it for my 13 y/o step daughter for hunting whitetail deer here in Missouri. Bought it from Bud's.

I guess looks are subjective. I love the look of my X-Bolt Hunter. I sold my last 700 after I shot the X-Bolt a few times. IMO the fit, finish, and quality on the X-Bolt was much better than my 700 CDL. I would pick the X-Bolt.

Ok I just got my X-bolt today. I will comment on what I have noticed so far.

X-bolt has better overall fit and finish, and the better trigger out of the box. The Remington still has smoother bolt operation. I'm thinking even with the 60 degree bolt lift a Remington may be still be faster. The bolt lift requires more force on the x-bolt and in general is a little loose when going forward and back. The X-bolt has a Sako styled extractor if that is important to you.

Something I noticed is that if you plan on single loading your bullets the X-bolt can be a bit finicky. If you just drop your ammo in sometimes the tip of the bullets will dive into the front of the magazine on the and they will get stuck as you push the bolt forward (at least my snap caps do). If you are not overly casual about it, its not a problem.

The factory synthetic magazine on the Browning is the best I've felt on any factory rifle. I'm sure you can find something as good or better on an aftermarket Remington, but as the action is glass bedded and the barrel is free floated out of the box, its a very attractive package. Its comfortable with its slight palm swell and tacky rubberized surface, and I probably wont have to do anything to it (not like there are many options either).

I am waiting on a base from Murphy Precision before I can go shoot it and will chime in again with the experience.
