Remington FNH Tactical Police Shotgun (TPS) Home Defense?

I'm looking for a shotgun for mainly home defense, I want to useThe Knoxx SpecOps Stock which this model comes with without having to order it seperartly.

I'm brand new to shotguns and want something that's easy to use and maintain. Is this the one for me.

FYI, the FN police shotgun isn't made by Remington. It's a similar but different design based on the Winchester 1300 (Winchester was owned by the Herstal group, which also owns FN of Belgium). The W1300/FN has an alloy receiver and a very smooth rotary bolt system.

One advantage of the FN shotgun is that for the same 18" of barrel, you get an extra shell in the magazine tube.

No you have to buy all the parts separately. It is fairly easy to assemble them on your shotgun with a few hand tools. You can have your local gundealer/gunsmith do if you are not sure you can handle it

I'd buy a used Win 1300 Defender and convert it yourself.



I know that sounds weird coming from a guy that owns a FNTPS, BUT I bought this below dealer cost(long story), if your new to shotguns it maybe a good idea to become more fimiliar with the basics first.

I've seen them in gun stores but never had the opportunity to shoot one. The ones I've seen have had adjustable stocks though I don't believe they had Knoxx stocks. The action seemed quite smooth but the stock, for me, was not good at all. It kept slipping from my shoulder. YMMV, but I'd try and handle one before I bought one.

This is my 870 Express with 20" rifle sighted barrel, and Knoxx Spec Ops Stock. I ordered the stock directly from Knoxx ( got a 10% discount by telling them I am a member of this forum ), and installed it myself. I took a shotgun course with it and I really like it now. I was sceptical before putting 500+ rounds through it with the Knoxx Spec Ops. Now I am a big fan. As far as simplicity, ease of maintainance, availability of parts, durability, you will be hard pressed to do better than the 870.
