Does anyone know if early Ithaca model 37 20 ga barrels will fit a model 17 Remington of the same gauge ?? ( of course) Sure look a lot alike. Also about the Remington 31s ( I have 2 TCs, one Olympic rib trap and a ribbed field gun all in 12ga) When did they change the barrel takedown assy to a spring loaded nut from the thread type arrangement I'm familiar with? I purchased the field for the 26" IC SR barrel to be used on my other guns but doesn't want to interchange, the line-up pin is not spring loaded and larger in dia than my other 31s. Ser#38879, has the early trigger assy, steel. One of my TC's has the later alloy tang type trigger housing and maintains the screw on and off thread method. Incidentally, the barrel ser# is 39060 on the barrel, from a later mfg gun, but fits as it should. I understand the tang type trigger assy was introduced after ser# 42,000. The gun in question has a full checkered fore end and buttstock. Is there any help out there before this thing drives me crazy LOL:)
