Last night I got the opportunity to hold what appears to be an old (very old) Remington Rolling Block that appears to have been converted over to a shotgun. Last patent date was somewhere in 1874, but nothing was written on the barrel, as gauge, etc.
Why do I think it was a conversion? Main reason was that usually a shotgun that old would have had a dimascus barrel, this one did not. No writing on the barrel. You could see impressions on the breech face where the shell does not sit centered, as in "bad" work.
Also, I did an internet search for rolling block shotgun, and all I can find is the rifle.
Anyone ever know of a rolling block shotgun?? Owner was actually looking for a value, but I have NO idea.
