Did a search and turned up dry!?!?!
I know this is very basic stuff, but I am kind of resporing this old 22 for a friend and I can't really do a nice re-bluing unless I remove the iron sights and band sand in on a lathe. Since this is not my rifle I don't want to risk messing it up, so before I clamp it on my vise and tap 'em out with a brass punch, I'd like to hear from your best techniques to remove and re-install the front and rear open sights w/o damage.
I though about buying one of those universal flat sidewall pistol slide jigs from Midway/Brownells but I wondered how effective they'd be on a cylindrical barrel... maybe I should just get one for my pistols but heck, they are $100 and I have no plans to mess with 'em any time soon!
