Removing Lancaster AK-74 Buttstock

I'm trying to remove the plastic buttstock from my Lancaster AK-74 and after following the directions I've scoured on the web I've had no success. Both screws have been removed and after tugging and whacking the darn thing it still won't budge. All the directions I found focused on removing the stock for an AK-47 so the inside of my rifle is set up a little differently. Is there some trick to getting this thing out or have others run into the same problem as me?

They can be in there pretty tight sometimes. The two screws were the only thing holding it in place except for friction.

Get a rubber mallet.

Whack it on the top of the butt stock at the last inch (next to the butt plate).

Turn it over and whack it in the same place (next to the butt plate)

A few whacks, and it should come out.

I second the recommendation to whack it with a hammer. My Lancaster AK's stock was tough to come off too. Mine got replaced with an ACE SOCOM stock. Good luck...

Oh boy another reason to go buy a bunch of stuff at the hardware store

if you have a tight fitting stock (they are designed to be), field strip, including the fire control group. get a piece of 1/2" square steel bar or other suitable stock about 10" long, and bend it at 20* at about 3-4" from one end. insert the short end into the receiver and push it up against the front end of the buttstock and whack with hammer.

I'm going to try the rubber mallet method this weekend. If it doesn't work I'll try what justashooter suggested but I want to avoid removing the fire control group.

Get a long 10-12" extension for a ratchet drive...disassemble the rifle and put the extension against the "front" of the stock that is visible through the rear of the receiver. The extensions other end is up near the rear sight to either side...whack it with a mallet and use it as a giant punch to push the stock out...
