THIS. The rifle has serious patina; if you can get it back together without removing the offending screw, call it good and move on. Clean up the screw had enough that it doesn't bug you so much.

Guy I worked with, in the days before Leatherman tools, always carried one of those little ChanneLocks in his pocket. He used it about all the time, and I had one too (eventually). Lost it some place, and wouldn't mind another.
None of the local shops has any that small...Internet time.
Still despise crescent wrenches; great for rounding bolts.
