A replacement will be recommended by citizens of the local area she represented and democratic party members. This is a heavily democratic section of LA county so the replacement will probably be an idealogical carbon copy. Unless the person proposed has some very serious social shortcomings it is unlikely that AAHHHNOLD will make any waves. This is not likely to have any significance in the grand scheme of things politically.
When Sonny Bono had a sudden face to face meeting with a tree here a few years ago his wife replaced him in office for the remainder of the term and was reelected to serve at the end of his term. He represented the Palm Springs area.
