DALLAS -- An undercover Dallas police officer was shot Thursday night while trying to serve a search warrant.

Another officer and two suspects were hurt in the shootout on Pinehurst Lane just after 9 p.m. Thursday.

The officer, shot in the calf, was taken to Baylor Medical Center. The other officer was injured in the ribs during the shootout. He was taken to Parkland Hospital.

Both officers were part of an undercover team sent into the home to serve that search warrant and look for drugs.

Nine people were inside the home and started shooting, police said. The officers returned fire, shooting two people.

The two people shot in the home were taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Police said they are still investigating and didn’t say whether drugs or weapons were found in the home on Pinehurst.

Because those officers were undercover at the time of the shooting, it is unlikely that their names will be released.

Police said they have made multiple arrests in connection with the incident.

There was a frickin shootout between the cops and the bad guys and this reporter has to wait for the police to say whether there were weapons in the house or not??? :banghead: :banghead: :fire: :fire:

So you are complaining that a reporter is actually waiting for real information rather than just filling in the blanks with assumptions?

no, he's complaining that the "nine people in the home started shooting..."

and then...

"still investigating whether weapons were in the home..."

yeah, it does sound pretty retarded.

Um, no, I think he's pointing out that the fact that the residents shot at the cops is pretty convincing evidence that there were in fact weapons present. It's kind of a DUH! thing.

Why in the world would an undercover police officer be serving a search warrant in the first place????

That's what I was wondering. Although maybe someone is listening to the complaints about the para-military raids and tried things the right(wrong) way.

Thats why they wear masks....As they can identify those that need to be identified..!!:D

I actually don't find this so stupid. The reporters use of "in the home" may have meant in the possession of the home owner. It is defintely possible that individuals in the home were not residents of the home but were guests and that they were the armed ones that participated in the shootout. It may very well be the case that the home owner was unarmed and didn't particpate in the shootout.

As for the search warrent, the polcie could have been looking for someone that the homeowner knows and is believed (or known) to be involved with drugs.

Yes I think that chances are that their were illegal guns and drugs but I can't fault the media for waiting for that fact to be annoounced. I think it is better to hold back info that to print potientally inaccurate info.

What an idiot.
I also liked his "injured in the ribs" line, that's some really awkward language right there. What's his job again :neener:

Hardly egregious stupidity on the part of the reporter. Especially for as often as reporters get bagged on around here for just making stuff up instead of reporting the facts.
