Sorry if this has been asked before. I'm guessing it may depend on the State one is in at the time....but if a LE officer pulls a person over with concealed carry permit and gun in car what is the correct thing to do.

I was just watching a show on TV regarding State Troopers in Alaska. They just pulled some guy over about headlight violation and he told the officer he had a gun, but it took a minute or so....so officer lost it.....took gun.......guy has to go to court now..but he was not arrested on the spot.

Thanks, we are getting ready to go on a road trip out West this Summer.

Yes indeed, the correct answer varies quite a bit by state. Some states require you to inform the officer right away. Some states link your permit to your driver's license so the officer knows already. Some states link your permit to your driver's license and still require you to inform. Some states don't require anything one way or another.

In states where you are not required to inform, the decision is up to you. Personally, my permits are not linked to my driver's license and I'm not required to inform in my state. I don't see the gun as relevant to whatever purpose the officer may have had for stopping me and that information is more likely to cause me trouble than benefit -- so I keep my mouth shut.

Dang, Sam, now you done turned this into another inform the officer or not thread based on personal preference rather than law! I am so disappointed. It was bound to happen, I just figured you would be the one to end it rather than start it! :D
